Mother Lies

Every night,
as daughters are settling down to sleep,
Mothers keeps
A deep, dark secret.
A story is told,
a lie unfolds.
A princess lies
motionless, waiting for him
to make his move.
Their coupled lips will merely whet
her appetite
for freedom.
But,
still she lies,
a museum masoleum,
a petrified piece
of  time
whose truth
is the only thing freed.
She lies
even while she dreams into reality,
a prince, a price.
She lies
so that she will never have to stand up
for herself,
knowing that
she could have slayed that dragon, too.
